The Creative Resistance to Fast Fashion Culture!

Welcome! As creatives we do what we do best. Create! A Collective Activism is called for in joining the movement against the fast fashion business model. It means using our best talents in working to create change. The fashion industry is part of who we are, yet the horrific exploitation of the Earth and humanity, the garment workers, who in a sense, are us has torn our hearts. We've had to redirect our careers wanting no part in the current system of the most non-creative form of fashion. Fast fashion is essentially cheap versions of high fashion that are intenionally made poorly so that people throw it away only to buy more the next week. Clothing is made from modern day slavery where garment workers are forced to work unhumane hours without breaks where unrealistic quotas are expected. The factories they work in are not up to code. There have been deaths, fires and nothing is changing as long as we keep buying these clothes. This culture keeps our heads in the sand and meanwhile we are in an Earth crises where human extinction is a real possibility. That's the tip of the iceberg. We have decided to use our talents to fight the fast fashion model.

We are the people, the artists who create extradorinary upcycled fashion, we design sustatinable fashion in a circular system. We are already living the new fashion industry because we have a natural sustainability mindset. And we are fighting the cause with creativity. This is a community of the creators of the new fashion culture. We sew upcycled fashion. We create art from fabric. We save our cuttings to create more art. We salvage every piece of clothing down to the elastic. We teach others how to create upcycled fashion. Welcome! Let's use this platform as creative activists - share ideas, tips, hacks, advice on upcycle sewing and refashioning. Forum soon to come.

Our Mission, Our Hope

We are the creators of upcycled fashion, visible mending, refashioned clothing. The epitomy of fashion activism. It is the creative resistance to the fast fashion culture of greed, overconsumption, waste and ignorance. New clothes are no longer in fashion. Creating upcycle clothing and wearing it is a revolutionary act. If fashion dictates the culture, then we are dictating a culture where the sustainability mindset is the norm.  We believe the best way to foster a succesful movement against the fast fashion business model of greed is to have a paradigm shift in cultural mindset. Then we will heal.

Creative collaborators wanted. Let's launch this community together! Please email leiah@refashionrevolution.org   We can set up a group whatsApp or zoom meetings. I'm also looking for upcycle sewing stories. reviews, tutorials, photos, experiences, clothing swap event stories and photos, tales from the NYC remake event... This is going to be really fun community! Upcycle ewing events in the future!
